فهرست آثار والتر برونو هنينگ 1908-1967

راهنماي كتاب، مردادماه – 1347، سال يازدهم، شمارهء پنجم
والتر برونو هرمان هنينگ، استاد و محقق نامدار فرهنگ و زبانهاي
ايراني، در 35 اوت 1908 در راگينت از شهرهاي پروس شرقي به جهان آمده و در 1931 از
دانشگاه گوتينگن به دريافت درجهء دكتري در زبانهاي ايراني با درجهء ممتاز توفيق
يافت و در 1936 به دانشياري دانشگاه لندن برگزيده شد. دو سال بعد با ماريا پولوتسكي
زناشويي كرد و يگانه فرزند او «آن» در 1938 متولد شد. ده سال بعد در دانشگاه لندن
به مقام استادي «تحقيقات آسياي مركزي» نايل آمد.
در 1954 به عضويت فرهنگستان انگلستان انتخاب شد و در 1958 رياست گروه خاورميانهء
دانشگاه لندن به وي واگذار گرديد. در 1961 به سبب ناسازگاري هواي لندن دعوت دانشگاه
كاليفرنيا (بركلي) را به استادي مطالعات ايراني در آن دانشگاه پذيرفت و تا پايان
عمر در اين سمت باقي بود.
گذشته از اينها، در نتيجهء مقام والاي علميش به عضويت فرهنگستان دانمارك، عضويت
وابستهء فرهنگستان علوم و معارف آلمان (برلين) و عضويت مؤسسه تحقيقات عاليهء
پرينستن نيز انتخاب گرديد.
رشتهء خاص تحقيقات او زبانهاي ايراني از قديمترين ازمنه تاكنون و تحولات آنها به
شمار ميرفت. در زبان پهلوي و پارتي و سغدي نظيري نداشت. در خوارزمي كه خود كاشف
اسامي آن بود محقق يگانه بود. بر اوستايي و فارسي باستان و ختني و بلخي كه خود آن
را اسم بخشيد تسلط داشت و زبانهاي كنوني ايراني چون فارسي و پشتو و بلوچي و كردي و
الاني (اوستي) همه در حيطهء تتبع او بود. از اينها گذشته همهء زبانهايي را كه به
نحوي در تتبعات ايراني به كار ميرود، چون سانسكريت و يوناني و لاتيني و عربي و
ارمني و آرامي و سرياني، ميدانست و با چيني و ايغوري آشنا بود و در برخي از اين
زبانها صاحبدست و محقق به شمار ميرفت.
اما دايرهء كار هنينگ محدود به تحقيق زبانها نبود. به فرهنگ و تاريخ و ادبيات ايران
به طور كلي نظر داشت. در مسائل مربوط به مذهب زردشتي و مذهب مانوي و تاريخ و
گاهشماري ايراني جزءِ چند تن افراد برجستهء اين قرن به شمار ميرفت. در همهء اين
رشتهها تحقيقات او موجب كشفها و پيشرفتهاي اساسي شد. در خطشناسي و كتيبهخواني
در ميان ايرانشناسان نظيري نداشت. مطالعات مانوي و زردشتي و مباحث تاريخ ساساني و
تحقيقات سغدي و خوارزمي و بلخي و فارسي بخصوص مديون كوششهاي علمي اوست. وي بحق فرد
مقدم ايرانشناسان اين قرن محسوب ميشد.
نگارنده شرح زندگي و تحقيقات علمي آن شادروان را به تفصيلي بيشتر در مجلهء دانشكدهء
ادبيات تهران (شماره 5/6 سال 14) نگاشته است و در اينجا فقط فهرست آثار وي را به
دست ميدهد.
و در اين مورد از خانم ماريا هنينگ و دكتر مارتين شوارتز كه وي را در تنظيم و تكميل
اين فهرست ياري كردهاند سپاسگزار است.
